Enterovirus D68 is a virus that affects the lungs and airways.

Most people who get infected with enteroviruses do not get sick. People who get sick from this virus can have breathing problems. Severe cases that require hospitalization are rare. Children with asthma appear to be at higher risk for breathing problems if infected with this virus. There is no treatment for enteroviruses.

Symptoms can include:

Runny nose
Sneezing
Coughing
Body aches

They spread via:

Coughing
Sneezing
Touching a surface contaminated with the salvia or mucus of an infected person
