Incarcerated people in Department of Correction (DOC) custody can be notified if their family member has died or is seriously ill.

You can ask the Social Service Office to notify them. Contact the Social Service Office at the facility where they are held. You cannot speak with them directly.

They will be informed by either a:

  • Chaplain
  • Social Worker

DOC also reviews requests on a case-by-case basis for an incarcerated person to:

  • Visit a family member who is very ill and in the hospital, or
  • Attend a family funeral
