Potable water is water that is fit for human consumption.
Meat and poultry packing operations and other types of packaged food processors are required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to have the water used in their packaging or canning process certified for potability.
The City inspects water and sewer connections and collects a water sample for analysis. Upon successful completion of the inspection and water analysis, the facility will be provided with a letter stating that the inspection was completed and water quality standards were met.
The fee to get a Water Potability Certificate is $270.
You may apply for the certificate online or download an application packet. Applications may also be submitted in person by appointment only at the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Licensing Center.
