Child Care Vouchers (ACS)
A child care voucher will help you cover most or all of the cost of child care at a qualified provider of your choice.
Vouchers can be used at hundreds of center-based and home-based providers across the city. They may also be used to pay approved relatives, neighbors, or friends for child care. Vouchers can help pay for child care year-round for up to 24 hours a day.
Due to insufficient funding, the City is currently unable to offer child care vouchers to families that are not on cash assistance. While you may submit an application for child care assistance, please be aware that, if you meet income and programmatic eligibility criteria, your child(ren) will be placed on a waitlist for a voucher.
If you currently have a child care voucher, your child care assistance will continue uninterrupted through your eligibility period.
Most families will also be able to continue receiving child care assistance if they successfully recertify.
All families that meet one of the below criteria will be able to maintain their child care assistance if they recertify on time and remain eligible:
- Families that are homeless
- Families with a child with special needs
- Families with income below 300% State Income Standard (SIS)
|
2 | $5,110 | $61,320 |
3 | $6,455 | $77,460 |
4 | $7,800 | $93,600 |
5 | $9,145 | $109,740 |
6 | $10,490 | $125,880 |
7 | $11,835 | $142,020 |
If you do not meet one of these criteria, you may still submit your recertification application and, if eligible, your child(ren) will be placed on a waitlist.
When it’s time to recertify, please submit your recertification application by the deadline provided in your annual recertification packet. If you do not successfully recertify by the end of your eligibility period, you will lose your child care assistance benefits.

Contracted Care (DOE)
The Department of Education (DOE) provides a number of free or low-cost child care programs for families that qualify. These programs provide early care and education for children from six weeks up to five years old in center, home, or school based settings, all year round for up to ten hours a day.
Eligibility is based on your family's income and needs. If you qualify and there is a seat available, your child can begin a program anytime during the year. If your first-choice program doesn’t have space, DOE will help you find other options.
You can use the MySchools map to learn more about programs in your neighborhood.
