Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day. Polls will be open for registered voters on Election Day from 6 AM to 9 PM.

City government offices and City and State courts are closed. It is an optional holiday for State employees. 

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Federal offices are open. There will be mail delivery.

Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) rules are suspended.

All other parking regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

Tuesday, November 5, is a non-attendance day for students. No in-person or remote instruction will be provided.

Family Welcome Centers, the P311 (Parent Support Hotline), and all other Department of Education administrative offices will be open.

Parking in School Zones

Parking is allowed in school zones when school is in recess. However, specific schools may be open on holidays, and parking restrictions would remain in effect. You should contact specific schools to verify that they are in recess.

There is no trash, recycling, or compost collection on Tuesday, November 5th.

If Tuesday is your regular trash, recycling, or compost collection day, place your items at the curb Tuesday evening for collection beginning Wednesday, November 6th. 

Reminder: Items must either be placed curbside between 6 PM and midnight (if in a bin with a secured lid) or between 8 PM and midnight (if in bags) the night before collection.

Please note that collection delays are common after holidays.

The Staten Island Ferry runs on a normal schedule.

All branches of the City's Public Library systems are open.
