Thursday, February 12 is Lincoln's Birthday. 

All government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), are open. Public schools are also open.

Courts are closed.

Mail delivery follows a regular schedule.

Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) rules are suspended.

All other parking regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

Trash, recycling, and compost collection will occur on Thursday, February 12.

While Lincoln's Birthday has historically been observed as a sanitation holiday, due to the recent snowfalls and previous collection delays, collection will occur that day. 

Residents with Thursday collection may follow their normal schedule: place items curbside on Wednesday evening for collection beginning Thursday, February 12.

NYC Public Schools are open on Thursday, February 12.

Midwinter Recess

All NYC Public Schools are closed for Midwinter Recess from Monday, February 16 through Friday, February 20. Students return to school on Monday, February 23.

P311 (Parent Support Hotline) and Family Welcome Centers, including enrollment centers, are closed on Monday, February 16.

Parking in School Zones

Parking is allowed in school zones when school is in recess. However, specific schools may be open on holidays, and parking restrictions would remain in effect. You should contact specific schools to verify that they are in recess.

The Staten Island Ferry runs on a normal schedule.

All branches of the City's Public Library systems are open.
