You can get help to prepare your business for a disaster. Help is also available if your business suffered any physical damage during a disaster. 

You can get help to prepare your business for a disaster through:

  • Online tool
  • One-on-One services

You can apply for help if your business has suffered physical damage or interruption due to an emergency. These include:

  • Fires
  • Floods
  • Ruptured water mains
  • Building collapses or explosions 
  • Power outages
  • Terrorist attacks

Staff from the NYC Emergency Response Unit may be sent to the emergency site to help the business owner.

Eligible New York City residents and businesses affected by the significant flash flooding event on May 20, 2026 may now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

These loans are made available for those whose homes and/or businesses were damaged due to flooding.

The following groups may be eligible for SBA disaster loans:

  • Homeowners: up to $500,000 to repair their primary residence.
  • Homeowners and renters: up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.
  • Business owners: up to $2,000,000 for the replacement of real property, inventories, machinery, equipment, and other physical losses.
  • Businesses and nonprofits: Economic Injury Disaster Loans of up to $2,000,000 to provide necessary working capital until normal operations resume after a disaster.

The filing deadline to submit applications is August 31, 2026 for physical damage, and March 30, 2027 for economic injury.
